Hoover Dam, originally known as the Boulder dam is situated in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River, on the border between Arizona and Nevada. The construction for this dam began in 1931 and ended in 1936. This dam is located 30 miles south-east of Las Vegas and is named after Herbert Hoover who was the president of the United States from 1929 – 1933.
